Internships at Angels
Angels The Costumier is looking to fill Intern Positions in four departments, please read all the details below before applying.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable work experience at the worlds largest costume house for film, theatre and TV.
Hire Department
A small number of eight week placements are being offered to Costume/Fashion graduates in our Hire Department. As well as helping us to sort our amazing stock you will have the opportunity to shadow costumiers and experience the different kinds of work that we do. This may include preparing costumes for shows, attending fittings, basic alterations, returning costumes to stock etc.
Suitable Applicants Must:
- Have a demonstratable passion for costume
- Have basic sewing skills
- Be flexible and able to work well as part of a team
- Be enthusiastic and hardworking
Alterations Department
If you are more interested in construction, a placement in our Alterations Workroom may be more appropriate. Interns will gain valuable experience in working on a variety of costumes/fabrics from period pieces right through to modern fancy dress costumes as well as understanding how a professional workroom works and runs.
Suitable Applicants Must:
- Good sewing (hand & machine) skills
- Be flexible and able to work well as part of a team
- Be enthusiastic and hardworking
Production Department
The Production Department is responsible for the manufacture/sourcing of costume. Amongst many other things it is responsible for the interpretation of design with our customer; sourcing fabrics; producing costings; ensuring that deadlines are met etc. It also maintains our fabric storerooms, the Laundry and the Dye Room.
Suitable Applicants Must:
- Have an interest in Production
- An interest in fabric dyeing/textile effects
- Have a good knowledge of fabrics and an idea of where or how to find them
- Be flexible, organised and able to work well as part of a team
- Be enthusiastic and hardworking
Uniform Department
If you have an interest in Uniforms or Military History, a placement in our Uniform Hire Department may appeal to you. As well as keeping our amazing stock in order you will have an opportunity to shadow costumiers and experience the different kinds of work that we do. This may include preparing costumes for shows, attending fittings, basic alterations, returning costumes to stock etc.
Suitable Applicants Must:
- Have an interest in uniform / military history
- Have basic sewing skills
- Be flexible and able to work well as part of a team
- Be enthusiastic and hardworking
All internships are unpaid although pre-approved travel expenses within London will be paid.
Educational Requirements: Costume / Fashion Degree or Equivalent
Location: Hendon NW9
Full-Time- 0900 - 1730 - Monday to Friday
